Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition – Briefing Event
Join us for a briefing to learn more about the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition to develop clean maritime technology.
In November of 2020 the Prime Minister announced ‘The Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution’. Inside that announcement £20m was committed to be invested into the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition to develop clean maritime technology.
Innovate UK, on behalf of the Department for Transport, will manage the application process for the programme which opened on 22 March 2021.
Webinar recording is now available
The aim of this competition is to support the design and development of technologies for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by the UK’s maritime sector as set out in the Clean Maritime Plan and support the transition to Net Zero by 2050.
In this competition we are seeking solutions for all sizes and categories of maritime vessels. Solutions can be suitable for one target size or multiple sizes of vessels. All ports and harbours are in scope, including infrastructure for both freight and leisure.
We strongly encourage projects from around the UK to support boosting jobs and economic growth, including:
- vessel operators
- vessel manufacturers
- their relevant supply chain
There are two strands to this competition:
KTN will host this online briefing event enabling you to learn more about the competition and provide you with the opportunity to pitch your idea in order to form a consortium.
Collaboration Platform: To help potential applicants to find suitable partners for the competition, KTN has launched a networking platform. This tool can be used to discuss project opportunities and facilitate introductions between organisations interested in this area. It provides powerful networking through online messaging and 1:1 virtual meetings. You will be able to use this to upload your profile, search other users’ profiles and book video chat meetings via the platform.
We recommend you start building your profile now here, ahead of the briefing on 29th March. After this, we encourage you to revisit the site to start browsing other users’ profiles and send messages to discuss possible collaboration opportunities.
