Announcing the first speakers for the Women in Innovation Building Success in the South West event

As part of Innovate UK’s Women in Innovation programme, KTN will be hosting the sixth Building Success event on the 21st January in Bristol.

Take the opportunity to network with like-minded women, learn from experts and hear from successful female business owners at this exciting South West event.

There will be a variety of practical workshops delivered by experts to accelerate your knowledge, and an Innovation Canvas session that will help identify your particular innovation challenges and prioritise what actions you should take next.

Jenny Tooth OBE, CEO of the UK Business Angels Association

Jenny is CEO of the UK Business Angels Association, the trade body for angel and early-stage investing, representing over 18,000 investors around the UK. Jenny has over 20 years’ experience of facilitating SMEs’ access to investment, both in the UK and internationally.

 

She ran her own consultancy on access to finance for SMEs, including spending nine years based in Brussels, working closely with the EC. In 2009, Jenny co-founded Angel Capital Group which incorporates London Business Angels, one of the most established and active angel networks in the UK and which was a sold to Newable in April 2017.

 

Jenny is an angel investor and in her role at UKBAA she focuses on building the angel community around the UK, connecting investors to good deal flow and assisting entrepreneurs to attract investors. Jenny sits on the steering group for emerging technologies and innovations for Innovate UK and the advisory board for the London Co-Investment Fund.

 

Jenny is an experienced speaker on angel investing and entrepreneurship both in the UK and internationally. She has an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Jenny was awarded an OBE in 2015 for services to small businesses.

Rosie Bennett, Investment Programme Manager at SETsquared

Rosie has experience in broadcast and interactive media, having joined BBC Online in its formative years.

 

In 1999 she moved to Amsterdam, where she launched and ran the entertainment portals for UPC Broadband (a pan European Telecommunications company owned by Liberty Global). She went on to become Production Director of the team that deployed a multilingual interactive TV product on multiple set top box technologies.

 

On return to the UK, Rosie started her own digital media consultancy and joined Catalyst Venture Partners where she worked with entrepreneurs on raising early stage finance for their companies.

 

Since moving to Bath in 2006, Rosie has been involved with a number of startups and early stage companies as a founder, consultant and mentor. She has been with SETsquared since 2014; as Entrepreneur in Residence, Bath Innovation Centre Director, and now managing the Investment Programme across the Partnership.

Matt Silver, Regional Manager South West at Innovate UK

Matt is the Regional Manager for the South West for Innovate UK. For the last several years Matt has worked for Cornwall Council and the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership. Projects included the Superfast Cornwall fibre optic roll out, the implementation of Devolution, creation of a Growth & Skills Hub, and raising awareness of European funded projects and the LEP agenda.

 

Matt has extensive knowledge of the national and regional business support landscape, the mechanisms of funding and strategy, Growth Hubs, scale-ups and inward investment to enable businesses to grow.

 

Prior to returning to Cornwall Matt worked for international brands in America, the Middle East and Asia in high profile marketing and interactive events.
