Innovate UK is seeking applications for its South Korean Global Business Accelerator Programme. Applications are sought from businesses involved in the Internet of Things (IoT) for the visit which will take place from 9-15 September 2018.

Delivered by Enterprise Europe Network, the programme is targeted at innovative UK SMEs involved in developing IoT technologies. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to attend the IOT Korea Exhibition and International Conference 2018, visit centres of excellence, key innovation hubs and meet South Korean companies with the aim of developing strong international partnerships for future collaboration.

For approved companies, Innovate UK organises and funds flights and five nights’ accommodation for one delegate from each participating company. A refundable commitment fee of £500 from each company is required.

Organisers are particularly keen to receive applications from those companies specifically involved with IoT in the following sectors:

  • Smart cities (including healthcare, energy, environment, transport)
  • Autonomous vehicles
  • Industry 4.0
  • Smart farming
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • 5G
  • Blockchain

South Korea was named by Bloomberg in 2018 as the World’s Most Innovative Economy and is one of the most high-tech and connected countries in the world. Host to the PyeongChang “5G” Olympic Games, conglomerates such as Samsung, Hyundai and KT Corporation showcased leading-edge technologies on a global stage. The country’s 4th Industrial Revolution policy is fostering state-private collaboration and it is driving investment in R & D to lead the development of key technologies to develop smart cities, self-driving cars and smart factories built on intelligent infrastructure and clean, green energy.

With a dynamic, highly educated and skilled workforce built around major industries, South Korea offers exceptional opportunities for companies to share and transfer knowledge and expertise and build relationships for cross border collaboration.
