Space data is becoming pervasive in our daily lives, from satellite navigation in mobile phones to enabling internet access on aeroplanes.

New innovations are taking place using Earth Observation data to provide information on crop health for precision agriculture services, to monitor and understand commercial sectors including mining and insurance, and to develop models of pollution in towns and cities.

The global reach of satellite communications provides the opportunity to allow Internet of Things applications in remote locations and seamless personal communications across all transportation modes.

Satellite positioning enables delivery drivers to increase efficiency, drones to operate in any environment and Location Based Services applications in gaming, health and tourism.

If you utilise satellite data or signals in the development of applications or services such as these you could be eligible for funding in the forthcoming Emerging & Enabling Technologies competition round.

As part of the Innovate UK Delivery Plan, Innovate UK is to invest in innovative projects in Emerging and Enabling Technologies that include:

Space Applications – applications of satellite data or signals.

Details about the competition scope and application process are now available on our funding pages; the competition opens on 4th September 2017 and closes 8th November, with briefing events across the country from 12-21 September.
