Be part of the European EPoSS Workshop on the Automated Factory

Posted on: 14/08/2017

Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, cyber physical production systems – these buzzwords continue to drive innovations in industrial automation.

But what do these so-called “Smart Systems” have to look like in the future? What are the requirements for the future industry? What added value do future “Smart Systems” need to offer? Which technologies have to be developed? Which functionalities are needed in future “Smart Systems”?

In view of these questions, I would like to invite you to the European Technology Platform on Smart System Integration’s (EPoSS) Workshop on Smart Systems for the Automated Factory.

This event will be held at MESAP, Corso Stati Uniti 38, 10128 Torino, Italy on 5 September 2017 from 11:00-19:00 (followed by a dinner and a site visit to COMAU and/or Maserati on the morning of 6 September 2017).

To be able to fully assess all aspects of an “Automated Factory”, the workshop aims at the EPoSS community as well as on Industry 4.0-related European Technology Platforms. Cross-platform and pan-European discussions shall further guarantee inspiring and innovative discussions. Regarding the programme, different interactive formats shall ensure highly effective discussions. The preliminary agenda will be as follows:

  • Introduction to the Factory of the Future and its vision on forthcoming automation requirements (Keynote speeches from Technology Platforms)
  • Condensed demands for needed automation technologies (intra-logistic, process automation, virtual shadow enabling e.g. condition monitoring, sensor fusion and Big Data Analytics, man-machine-interaction, security, etc.)
  • Requirements on future electronics, sensors and actuators incl. factory integration.

The final agenda will be circulated in a timely manner. The results of the workshops will not only serve as an input for the EPoSS Annual Forum 2017 on “Smart Systems for an Automated World”, taking place in October this year, but will also be condensed into Position Papers that will provide a point of reference for shaping the European Framework Programme.

If you would like to attend please RSVP at your earliest convenience by sending an informal e-mail to Ms. Davina Wenninger: Davina.Wenninger@vdivde-it.de. In case you are not available yourself we would appreciate if you could circulate this invitation within your network.
