Connected and Autonomous Vehicles come closer to a reality

Posted on: 12/06/2018

The emergence of Connected and Autonomous vehicles offers exciting and potentially transformational opportunities.

The Industrial Strategy Challenge identifies 4 main themes as areas of focus for investments. As well as a core area of the “Future of Mobility” theme, CAVs have the potential of touching on all the areas identified (Clean Growth, AI and Data as well as Ageing Society).

To date, the UK Government has invested over £120m in over 70 collaborative R&D projects, with more than 200 organisations being involved in the CAV space. The projects thematic areas span from full MaaS (Mobility as a Service), public trials, connectivity, sensors, as well as modelling and simulations, etc.

Due to support and funding opportunities available, the UK is at the forefront to be one of the world’s premier development locations for innovative future vehicle technology, supporting our industrial strategy, and making vehicles that are safer, cleaner and more enjoyable.

Opportunities to engage in CAV research

KTN are hosting CAV R&D events throughout June and July, aimed at addressing some of the previously unexplored areas relating to CAV, as well as building up strengths in order to maintain the UK at the forefront of this emerging industry.

There will also be a webcast for those unable to attend in person on the 26th June.

During the events there will be pitching opportunities for those interested as well as the possibility to engage in 1:1 meetings with other participants. Furthermore, you will be able to put your questions to representatives from CCAV, Innovate UK and KTN. For any additional information please contact George Filip at George.Filip@ktn-uk.org
