Cummins recognised the strength of the KTN’s connections, and how KTN could help reach their objectives.

 

Cummins Inc., a global power leader, is a corporation of complementary business units that design, manufacture, distribute and service diesel and natural gas engines and related technologies, including fuel systems, controls, air handling, filtration, emission solutions and electrical power generation systems.

Cummins launched a programme in 2016 called the Environmental Gateway to identify suppliers with innovative solutions that would help them achieve their goal of improving the company’s environmental impact. Their key objectives were to increase diverse supplier inclusion, increase innovation and reduce costs and meet their 2020 targets of reducing global annual emissions from products in use.

Cummins realised to achieve their objectives they were going to have to reach out to a wide and diverse range of suppliers, some of which may not be known to them. Recognising the strength of the KTN’s connections to the innovation community, they approached KTN to see how they might be able to help.

Rype Office, a UK provider of remanufactured office furnishings, were introduced to Cummins as part of this process by the KTN’s Manufacturing team. Rype Office fitted out the office and meeting room using remanufactured furniture and carpet tiles, helping Cummins assess the service and the benefits. Based on significant savings in cost and carbon footprint, Rype Office are now working across the Cummins’ other sites, as one of their office furniture suppliers.
