Five additional partners announced for Analysis for Innovators Round 5

A4I gives UK businesses access to cutting-edge R&D, expertise and techniques. Five new partners have joined the Analysis for Innovators Programme.

The Analysis for Innovators Programme is designed to help companies boost their productivity and competitiveness by solving problems with their existing products or processes. It might be a problem with specification, reliability, cost or lifetime. The programme gives UK businesses, of all sizes, access to cutting-edge R&D expertise and facilities to help solve problems that they have been unable to tackle using standard technologies and techniques.

 

The current partners in the programme are National Physical Laboratory (NPL), the National Measurement Laboratory (NML), the National Engineering Laboratory (NEL) and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).

 

For Round 5 there are FIVE NEW partners taking part in the Phase 1 (Brokerage) section of the programme. These additional partners are:

·    The Henry Royce Institute РThe UK National Institute for Advanced Materials, focusing on new materials and systems.
·    The Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences - The UK’s National Mathematical Sciences Institute, applying mathematical sciences to real world problems.
·    The National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC) РBroad experience in the testing and standardisation of biological medicines and development/preparation of physical reference materials.
·    The Gear Technology Design Unit (GEARS) РRuns the UK’s National Gear Metrology Lab (NGML) with a focus on measuring drive train components to characterise and improve transmission efficiency.
·   ASTUTE 2020 (Advanced Sustainable Manufacturing Technologies) РPartnership of Welsh Universities, led by Swansea University, supporting manufacturing companies across Wales with the uptake of advanced and sustainable manufacturing technologies.

 

Problem statements are submitted via the Innovate UK Competitions page.¬† These are reviewed by the experts and, where the experts feel they can assist the company, a meeting is arranged between the company and the partner to discuss potential solutions. After these ‘Brokerage Meetings’, the company and the partner can plan a project to be submitted for funding under Phase 2 of the A4I Programme.
