Global Business Innovation Programme to South Korea, October 2019

Posted on: 24/07/2019

Innovate UK & Enterprise Europe Network are looking for applicants for the latest GBIP to South Korea with a focus on advanced materials for mobility.

Following the success of Innovate UK’s 2018 Global Business Innovation Programme (GBIP) technology visit to South Korea, there is going to be another GBIP to exploit opportunities in this market, run by Innovate UK and supported by Enterprise Europe Network.

The 6-day country visit to South Korea is scheduled for 12th – 19th October 2019, where successful applicants will have the opportunity to meet South Korean officials and companies in Ulsan and Busan and attend ADEX Seoul 2019 with the aim of creating opportunities for technology collaboration. Delegates will receive bespoke 1-2-1 support to help them exploit the opportunity before during and after the visit. With current R&D innovation strategy in South Korea focussing greater investment into SMEs and international collaboration, as well as UK- South Korea bilateral funding opportunities, this is a market which offers significant opportunity for UK SMEs developing advanced materials.

The visit planned for October 2019 will help selected delegates engage with South Korean businesses, officials and research organisations with the aim of creating opportunities for technology collaboration. The programme will focus on the key areas of lightweighting, energy efficiency and functionality. Applications are invited from SME’s developing advanced materials including, but not limited to, composites, carbon fibre, battery materials, graphene and coatings.

A briefing event is due to be held on 12th September. If your application is successful then you will benefit from pre-visit and in-country briefings providing market information, advice on how to do business in South Korea, training on how to improve your pitch and articulate your value proposition and how to protect your Intellectual Property. Other benefits of the programme include exclusive access to the South Korean advanced materials sector and the opportunity to meet key companies, while your business will be featured in the visit brochure which is also translated and distributed in South Korea. For selected delegates, Innovate UK will fund travel and accommodation costs.
