Innovate UK in the East Midlands: Profiting by Design
Innovate UK’s 2018/19 regional events programme begins in the East Midlands, with this event themed around Design. Book your free place today.
Ambitious innovators and entrepreneurs with plans to grow businesses in the UK are being invited to a series of regional events, organised by KTN and steered by Innovate UK and local partners.
The aim is to inspire people in business, to inform them about funding and resources, locally and nationally, and to connect people to spark new ideas, business opportunities and form collaborations. Where do you go for support? How do you find partners? And how can you access funding to support your project plans?
Innovate UK is the government’s innovation agency, responsible for stimulating business-led R&D in order to drive productivity and growth in the UK economy.
Profiting by Design is the event for the East Midlands and takes place at Nottingham Trent University on the 14th November in partnership with NTU and supported by D2N2 and LLEP Growth Hubs; EEN and the Universities of Nottingham and Derby.

Business Advisers from D2N2 and LLEP Growth Hubs will available for one-to-one sessions where you can pose questions, get practical tips and obtain guidance to help with any aspect of your business. So, whether you need access to finance to expand, guidance on the latest legislation or advice on reaching new markets, you will be provided with up-to-date, valuable and relevant information.
There will also be a live demonstration from BLOC Digital on their walk through Virtual Reality Design system. There will be a valuable chance for hands-on design practice with a unique Designathon to get some practical tips on how to apply design principles to your business.
Nottingham Trent University along with its partners at Universities of Nottingham and Derby will provide support through their Enabling Innovation Scheme to generate design solutions. An example of this (shown below) is a water filled counterweight which replaces a typical 25kg concrete version, which could save 40,000 tonnes of CO2 and 180,000 litres of transport fuel.
