Innovate UK KTN reports on how it has created the world’s first diverse advanced air mobility network

Innovate UK KTN has published its interim report to UKRI detailing the deliverables and impact made between 2020 and 2022 to support UKRI’s vision to create a new aviation environment by 2030.

The Future Flight Challenge (FFC) is a £125m programme delivered by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), which seeks to position the UK as a world leader in the third aviation revolution. The capability required to deliver the vision spans diverse industries such as aerospace, aviation, AI, agriculture, materials, creative industries and medical.

Between 2020 and 2022 Innovate UK KTN engaged with over 2350 individuals, 1070 organisations, including 68 universities, and over 40 key sector areas. By virtue of Innovate UK KTN’s cross-sector expertise, 590 introductions (503 cross-sector) were made, 35 collaborations brokered, and 24 successful grant funding outcomes created.

By building strategic connections, convening the right talent, and mobilising the right communities, Innovate UK KTN has created the world’s first advanced air mobility network, ready to position the UK as a world leader in advanced aviation solutions.

UKRI’s Future Flight Ambition and Vision to 2030 highlights the need for continued technology adoption and scale up across the UK and globally. Innovate UK KTN has begun delivering on the next phase of industry engagement to ensure this ambition is achieved.
