KTN help Contracts Engineering realise their business expansion plans

KTN’s Manufacturing team and the MTC supported Contracts Engineering to realise their business expansion plans.

Kent based Contracts Engineering specialise in UK Precision Sheet Metal Manufacturing.  In 2017, with a strong order book and ambitious plans to increase the operation, and having already doubled the size of the company over the previous 2 years, the owners decided that the business needed external, independent support to help them specify and plan the key elements required to realise their ambitious expansion plans.

KTN’s Manufacturing team used its 4Manufacturing framework to help review some specific requirements and identify new digital manufacturing technologies to stimulate, specify and realise the upcoming move. KTN then introduced Contracts Engineering to a strategic partner to undertake the linework needed to create the plans for their new factory.

Managing Director Troy Barrett said of the work undertaken, “It was a really positive experience to be offered back, in such a short time, both insights and suggestions as to what improvements might be possible Рby adopting some of the new technologies that could enhance our productivity, without any cost to the business.  The discussions held then fed directly in to our Consultant Architect Рwhose work will be leading to our move in just a few months’ time”.

The company’s move to their new larger factory in Sittingbourne in January 2019 will enable them to significantly increase their productivity capability.

A recent article published in the Parliamentary Review highlights Contracts Engineering’s ambition to help manufacturing return to the UK.
