A new interactive tool has been developed by KTN to promote UK companies that could supply chemicals for a UK SAF industry.

KTN, supported and commissioned by Innovate UK, has conducted an analysis to support the growth of the UK’s sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) industry and support the ambitions of the Jet Zero Council.

This interactive analysis offers insight into the feedstock and technology pathways being utilised, and the chemical products and scale of production (TRL), to inform your supply chain development and showcase the UK’s potential in SAF.

Michelle Carter, Head of Transport at KTN:
‘Key enablers to growing the UK SAF industry, aside from finance and policy, are collaboration and access to sustainable feedstocks. This analysis has been created to empower the UK SAF supply chain to find the right expertise and resources whilst showcasing their own contribution to this developing industry.’

Paul Bello, Innovation Lead and Associate NCP – Industrial Biotechnology, Innovate UK:
‘The UK Sustainable Aviation Fuel Analysis tool, which was supported & commissioned by Innovate UK, has been developed to support end users, technology developers, and the wider supply chain to understand UK based activities. The tool should help companies identify opportunities and will enable further collaboration across the sector.’

The interactive analysis identifies companies that could support the development and growth of a UK SAF industry by producing chemicals and fuels for SAF supply.

What does the analysis include?

Companies that have the potential to support the growth of a UK Sustainable Aviation Industry. This includes:

  • Feedstocks being used
  • Processes being developed
  • Products being produced
  • Estimated TRL level

This tool will continue to improve and evolve over time, capturing the UK Sustainable Aviation Fuel industry as it continues to develop. Companies that produce chemicals and fuels relevant to Sustainable Aviation Fuel that are not listed are invited to notify KTN for inclusion by completing this form.

The interactive analysis allows users to search and filter by feedstock, process and product.

How can the UK Sustainable Aviation Fuel analysis help?

The tool will offer value to all stakeholders interacting with the UK Sustainable Aviation Fuel industry by:

  • Identifying companies that can or have the potential to supply specific products
  • Supporting collaboration and innovation by providing a comprehensive and database of companies and organisations.
  • Raising profiles of UK Sustainable Aviation Fuel organisations of all types and sizes, providing a free platform to promote expertise and capabilities and inform a range of stakeholders.
