The Made Smarter Technology Accelerator is a national programme, designed to shape the UK's technology adoption directly into industry.

Delivered by Digital Catapult, funded by UKRI through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, as part of the national Made Smarter movement, Made Smarter Technology Accelerator is a national programme, set to fast forward and shape the UK’s technology adoption directly into industry. The programme works with both leading UK manufacturers and the UK’s leading digital technology innovation community to develop cutting-edge technology solutions to many of the UK’s core manufacturing challenges. It will speed up the adoption and unlock the known benefits technology adoption has for the UK economy.

It is a match-funded programme for medium and large manufacturers who will be part of a select group at the forefront of digital adoption, helping to define the scope of challenges and be directly involved in the programme, the outputs of which will generate a direct impact to achieving a competitive edge for business.

There are match-funded opportunities for SMEs through to large UK manufacturers to join the accelerator at the following levels:

  • Industry Challenge Owners – will be able to join the programme and position themselves as industry leaders at the forefront of technology adoption. These partners will form a committee of peers that will set and define industry-wide challenges to directly address current and future industrial growth.
  • Tech Sponsors –  technology providers have the opportunity to play a crucial role in the transformation of the manufacturing industries by driving innovation and development.
  • Industry Attendee Members – Engage with a cross-section of manufacturing challenge owners and startups and learn about how to deploy innovative solutions to solve problems faced by industry.
  • SME Members – manufacturing organisations can participate in the Made Smarter Technology Accelerator gaining access to the Digital Catapult innovation community and challenge owners, as well as attending all events.

Industry challenges will be set within five themes:

  • Intelligent factory management and control
  • Intelligent product verification and validation
  • Transparent and data-driven procurement
  • Digitally enabled factory workforce
  • Resource measurement and analytics

The Made Smarter wider mission is to inspire the new industrial revolution and support the vision of making the UK a global industrial leader by 2030, creating and exporting advanced digital technologies to shape how the world does business. The Made Smarter Technology Accelerator sits at the heart of this mission and will enable UK manufacturers to aid the recovery, improve productivity, increase market capitalisation, export growth and accelerate sectors towards industrial net zero.
