Meet the cream of UK’s young design talent

Posted on: 08/06/2018

Businesses and young designers invited to join the Innovation Canvas Talk at the New Designers exhibition taking place from 27-30 June & 4-7 July.

New Designers taking place from 27-30 June & 4-7 July 2018 at London’s Business Design Centre, gathers more than 3,000 of the brightest creative minds under one roof to launch the next generation of thinkers, makers and disruptors onto the UK design scene.

This exhibition is a two-week celebration of visionary design that sees students of 200+ creative courses unveiling never-before-seen work to thousands of industry professionals and design lovers.

With human-centred design being recognised by more and more businesses as critical to ensuring the success of their new product or service, these graduates possess the right skills to help companies innovate. “We see design as a critical driver of innovation across all areas of the economy. Undertaking design at the outset of the innovation process helps any business or start-up.” says Edward Hobson, Head of Design at the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN).

As part of this year’s Thursday Late on 5th June, KTN are hosting an evening ‘drop-in’ reception in their offices at BDC, for invited design businesses to network with like-minded individuals before visiting the New Designers Show.

Businesses and young designers are also invited to join us at the Innovation Canvas Talk on Thursday morning (5 June) to find out more about our latest thinking on helping businesses accelerate their innovation projects.

The Materials for Design Challenge presented by Materials and Design Exchange (MaDE) takes place on Friday 6th July and invites young materials scientists from the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining and University College London to give an overview of alternative material suggestions, and reflect on how designers and scientists might work together more effectively. KTN is a Partner in MaDE.
