Start-ups and Scale-ups: essential sessions for entrepreneurs at Venturefest South West

Venturefest South West has announced a top line up of speakers for the Start-Ups and Scale-Ups sessions at their flagship event on 17th June.

 

Sponsored by SETsquared, the Start-Ups and Scale-Ups sessions are divided into four workshops focussing on key areas for businesses: Grant Funding, Angel Funding, Venture Funding and Accelerating Growth.

Ben Voysey, Incubation and Acceleration Manager at SETsquared, said, “The Start-Ups and Scale-Ups sessions will be made up of engaging panel discussions facilitated by entrepreneurs and experienced funders who have travelled the same road and can give up-and-coming businesses and innovators the benefit of their experience. The sessions will be interactive, focusing on key do’s and don’ts, so that delegates will leave at the end of the day with a series of key take-home messages for maximising success with their businesses.”

Speakers

Joining the Venture Funding sessions and providing their entrepreneurial experience is Toby Mottram, founder of Milkalyser and David Fry, CEO of Brain in Hand. Leading the Angel Funding sessions are Roger Killen, Royal Society EiR Investor; investor Kirsty Semple and Philippa Roberts, co-founder and CEO at Binit Group Ltd.

Discussing how to Accelerate your Growth will be Kathryn White, innovation manager at the Environmental Futures & Big Data Impact Lab; Mandy Nyarko, managing director at Exeter Velocities, Jason Hayward-Jones, director at RegenFARM, Steve Kitson, founder of Folium Optics Ltd and SETsquared business mentor.

Focusing on Grant Funding is Kezia Williamson from the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) and industry leaders Granted Consultancy. What is VentureFest South West?

Venturefest South West is a one-day flagship event bringing together the leading lights of the South West’s tech industries. More than 800 businesses, entrepreneurs, investors and academics are expected to attend to see the region’s cutting-edge innovation, network, hear insights and predictions from industry leaders, connect with entrepreneurs, investors and academics and make valuable business connections. The full-day event will see presentations from technology trailblazers, panel discussions and a diverse programme of workshops, as well as a schools’ competition (Hackfest).

Venturefest South West will be held on Monday 17th June 2019 at Sandy Park, Exeter. The event is supported by: The Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), Falmouth University, the University of Plymouth, University of Exeter, Plymouth College of Art, Heart of the South West LEP, South West Academic Health Science Network, Plymouth City Council and Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
