The future of food and drinks

KTN’s Prof Bryan Hanley and Dr Yvonne Armitage will speak at an IChemE conference on 26th September 2018 in Cambridge.

The IChemE Food and Drink Special Interest Group will be holding a conference on the Future of Food and Drinks: Product, Process & Beyond on at the University of Cambridge on 26th September 2018.

This event will have a particular focus on developments in the areas of product, process and other related areas of interest such as:

  • Product: microstructure design & characterisation
  • Process: scale up (industrial), automation, in-line monitoring and control, novel processes, process transformation
  • Beyond: factory of the future, industrial strategy, food technology, supply chain, agriculture

The conference programme includes speakers from both industry and academia, and will feature John Bows, Chair of the new IOP Physics of Food Manufacturing Group as its keynote speaker.

KTN’s Professor Bryan Hanley¬†and¬†Dr Yvonne Armitage will speak on the theme of “Technology and the Valley of Death – new technologies in old skins”.

As Food Specialist at KTN, Bryan has extensive experience of projects from both an academic and an industrial standpoint. Prior to joining KTN, Bryan worked in research institutes and in industry across the UK, Europe, and the US, most recently as Director of Scientific Discovery at the Wm Wrigley Company in Chicago.

Yvonne has spent most of her career in industrial research; developing bioprocesses and investigating the potential for the use of renewable raw materials and bio-based products. As Bioeconomy Specialist, Yvonne’s focus at KTN is on helping companies to understand the benefits of industrial biotechnology.

Registration for the event closes at 4pm on 21st September 2018, but we anticipate that this event will be quite popular, so please do register early to avoid disappointment.
