UKRI Open Access Review: extended until 29 May

Posted on: 17/02/2020

UKRI’s consultation on its proposed open access policy has been extended to noon on 29 May 2020.

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is reviewing its open access policies for peer-reviewed research articles and academic books that result from research supported by UKRI.

The Open Access (OA) Review is an opportunity to align policies across UKRI’s councils, including the seven Research Councils, Research England and Innovate UK.

As part of the OA Review a consultation has been published setting out UKRI’s proposed OA policy and related considerations and asking questions to gather views and evidence. It also includes high-level questions to help inform the development of the OA policy for research outputs submitted to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise following REF 2021. The relationship between the UKRI OA Review and the REF is explained further in the consultation.

UKRI is keen to gather responses from any organisation, group or individual with an interest in research and innovation. Responses must be submitted using the online response form, which is accompanied by a detailed consultation document outlining policy proposals and context relevant to each question.
