Using Big Data & AI to Detect Cancer: Academia-Industry Networking Event

Cancer Research UK, Innovate UK and KTN will be hosting a networking event on big data and AI in the detection of cancer.

Cancer Research UK, in partnership with Innovate UK and Knowledge Transfer Network, will be hosting an academia-industry networking event on the ‘Early Detection of Cancer using Big Data and AI’ on 25th January 2019 in London. The aim of the meeting is to bring together academic (including clinicians) and commercial researchers to establish new collaborations in big data and artificial intelligence for cancer detection.

The event is being held in the lead up to Cancer Research UK’s new Early Detection Primer Award. This award offers up to £100,000 funding to support researches develop early, novel and outside-the-box ideas and collaborations to make progress in the Early Detection field. The award is open to those with two years postdoctoral experience, or scientists, clinicians or healthcare workers in UK universities, medical schools, hospitals, CRUK or other research institutions.

The meeting will include information on this funding opportunity, as well as presentations on other available funding opportunities. Also taking place will be sessions involving pairing of academic and industry researchers based on complementarity, in addition to plenary talks and opportunities for networking. Cancer Research UK understand that increased collaboration between academia and industry will help facilitate their goal of improving the translation of early detection research.
