On 29 November, the government announced a new scheme that guarantees funding for successful applicants to the first wave of Horizon Europe grant awards regardless of the outcome of the UK’s efforts to associate to Horizon Europe. The guarantee is a short-term measure intended to address the delays in the formalisation of the UK’s association to Horizon Europe. To provide reassurance, the government has guaranteed funding for the first wave of eligible, successful applicants to Horizon Europe if they are unable to sign their grant agreements with the EU. This guarantee includes the EIC (European Innovation Council) 2021 calls.

A separate grant is available for retrospective funding for UK partners involved in EIT-KIC (European Institute of Innovation and Technology Knowledge and Innovation Communities) – click here for details.

Applicants will be eligible to register with UKRI for the Horizon Europe guarantee through this route if they are a UK-based organisation which has been successful through an EIC 2021 call, and which for the consortium grants remains a partner on the project and is listed on the EIC grant agreement as an Associate Partner.

The list below identifies the Horizon Europe calls included in this funding route:
