What Subak are looking for

A core mission to tackle climate change
We are looking for ambitious nonprofit organisations that focus on creating scalable and measurable climate impact.

A scalable approach
We want to see the potential for your model or operations to scale across new geographies or sectors.

A data-centred theory of change
We are looking for organisations with data underpinning their theory of change, and which are committed to building open data assets as a core output of their work.

An ethos of collaboration and data-sharing
We believe that organisations fighting climate change should work together to create a coherent base of data, tools, and practice that allow us all to fight more effectively.

The programme for successful applicants

The programme is divided into three programme phases – Accelerate (3 months), Grow (9 months), and Cooperate (optional bespoke).

Companies would engage with the Accelerate and Grow phases as part of a 1-year long engagement (based on progression through phases), with the optional Cooperate phase offered based on engagement with a collaborative data project (conducted with another Subak Fellow, Member or 3rd Party Partner).

Across all phases of the programme you will receive the following:

  • Access to our network of tech, data and climate advisors
  • Benefits package including licences, credits and discounts for tech and data software
  • Support from our data and tech team to develop your data and technology, and map one or more dataset(s) in the Data Catalogue
  • Invitations to Subak events, and access to Community network including Slack community
  • In addition to the above, in line with the phase (accelerate, grow or cooperate) of the programme you will receive the following:

Accelerate is 3 months long, and you’ll receive:

  • £20k non-equity grant funding
  • Hot desk space in our Westminster office (min. 10 days usage/month per team available)
  • 1:1 support from our data & tech team as you prepare your data to be mapped in the Data Catalogue
  • Workshops, trainings, roundtable discussions covering business fundamentals, tech, and data
  • Regular mentoring sessions with dedicated expert(s)

Grow is 9 months long, and you’ll receive:

  • £50k non-equity grant funding
  • Hot desk space in our Westminster office (min. 10 days usage/month per team available)

The Cooperate phase is our ongoing alumni and collaboration programme, and you’ll receive:

  • Up to £40k non-equity grant funding (based on engagement with a collaborative data project)
  • Guidance to define and develop a collaborative data project
