As Head of Design and Innovation Effectiveness, Edward leads the team to develop and support the role of design in innovation. He connects with key organisations across the design industries as well as working closely with Innovate UK on design-led initiatives.

Edward has particular experience working across sectors, largely relating to people and cities, specifically across construction, infrastructure, transport & mobility, energy and resource circularity, but always using design to provide a framework for R&D. Recently he has been developing design activity in ISCF areas such as Healthy Ageing and Sustainable Plastics.

He can help your company grow by advising on your innovation journey, prioritising a people-centred approach to innovation, and highlighting the opportunities and insights generated by gaining insight to people’s needs and challenges, behaviours and motivations. He can advise on funding opportunities and signpost to relevant collaborators.

Prior to KTN, he worked across built environment sectors, from designing the strategic integration of city development, through to ensuring a strong citizen role in the development of places. A former director of the environmental think tank, Green Alliance, and previously headed the sustainable cities design programme at CABE, the government’s advisor on Architecture and the Built Environment. He is also a Built Environment Expert for the Design Council.
