Philip Johnson: Knowledge Transfer Manager – Design & Innovation

Following roles in product development, marketing and PR, Philip’s work promoting design began at the Design Council where he led ‘Millennium Products’, an initiative to showcase the most innovative new products and services launched by UK companies at the turn of the century, This led to the publication of ‘Living Innovation’, an influential report that distilled and shared best practice. Later, as Head of Marketing at the Patent Office (now the IPO), Philip continued to promote innovation by  raising awareness and understanding of IP to companies and designers as well as those in education, and highlight the critical role it plays.
Subsequently Philip worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, advising design sector practices on international growth opportunities before most recently, leading Locate East Sussex, a publicly-funded programme that retained companies and brought new jobs, new businesses and significant new investment to the region.
