Head of Finance

Purpose of the role

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the role is responsible for the design and effective delivery of the finance plan, to ensure it reflects the requirements to support the ambitious commitments laid out in our five-year strategy.

As a senior leader of the Operations Directorate, the role will collaborate with senior colleagues across the organisation exploring the best and most effective ways to maximise our financial performance across the broad range of activities including long-term financial planning and strategy.

The role will provide effective business partnering to the business and senior leaders and will lead the finance team, with direct line management responsibility of team leaders and supervisors.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate to design and deliver KTN’s financial plan, to ensure it reflects the requirements to support the ambitious commitments laid out in our five-year strategy.
  • Take an active leadership role, developing influential working relationships internally throughout KTN and with external stakeholders (e.g. auditors, professional consultants)
  • Provide Board, Executive and senior leadership team with accurate and current company financial status reports, budgets and forecasts that clearly highlight financial priorities that require attention.
  • Motivate, lead and coach the senior members of the finance team, ensuring that they communicate and partner effectively across the business
  • Embed effective financial processes and systems throughout KTN creating a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide rigorous financial analysis in all company business cases and project proposals, giving Executive Team and Senior Managers the information with which to make sound financial decisions.
  • Embed effective legal and contracts support into bidding and tender processes.
  • Lead on design and implementation of robust framework for internal quality assurance and champion best practice in contract management.
  • Support Directorates and Company-wide programmes to maximise the impact of expenditure and return on investment.
  • Ensure that any outsourced financial services meet company needs, quality standards and are good value for money
  • Oversee and support where applicable, the monthly company payroll.
  • Lead on all external and internal audits
  • Work with the Director, Operations to identify, assess and mitigate organisational risk
  • Drive and oversee the annual budgeting and in-year forecasting processes

Requirements

Experience

  • Qualified Accountant with 5+ years post qualification experience
  • Experience of leading and developing a finance function in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrable experience of impactful business partnering
  • Experience of leading and developing a strategic plan to include budgeting responsibilities
  • Experience of preparing budgets and forecasts
  • Experience of managing the finance of a portfolio of projects and project approval in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience of implementing new systems and reporting processes
  • Strong understanding of Data protection and GDPR
  • Expert knowledge of Xero (desirable)
