Head of KTN Communications

Purpose of the role

The role is responsible for leading and working as part of a diverse group of talented communications managers, ensuring that the work of KTN is recognised and respected as being core to driving diverse and sustainable innovation in the UK.

The role is responsible for shaping how we tell the compelling stories of our work. The role will lead on the design and delivery of KTN’s corporate communication strategy aligned to our world-changing vision and strategy. The role will lead and work with a team to ensure that opportunities to collaborate, lead and highlight successes are identified and used to inspire action.

As a senior leader of the Reach and Engagement Directorate, the role will collaborate with senior colleagues across KTN to ensure that anything in the public domain, branded as KTN, is of exceptional quality.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Collaborate to design and deliver the KTN’s PR strategy aligned to our world-changing vision and five-year strategy.
  • Lead a team responsible for translating and effectively telling KTN compelling stories across different channels.
  • Ensure that KTN identity, brand and messaging is consistently clear in tone, aesthetic and language.
  • Take an active leadership role, developing influential working relationships internally throughout across KTN and also externally with key clients and strategic partners.
  • Lead on the creative concepts for specific KTN priority programmes including Net Zero, Diversity and Inclusion, Global Collaboration and Place-based activity.
  • Provide clear and inspiring briefings for senior colleagues in advance of meetings, panel discussions and media interaction.
  • Lead on KTN Stakeholder relationships and Strategic Partnerships communication to ensure that we add significant value to each of the key clients and partners we work, enriching our network of innovators.
  • Contribute to KTN Internal Communications plans, ensuring that we are continue to ensure that KTN is an exceptional place to work for exceptional people.
  • Gather insights from campaigns and ensure that these are used to improve future marketing and events.
  • Motivate, lead and coach a team of events and communications professionals, ensuring that they communicate effectively across teams, amplifying our reach and engagement activity.

 

Requirements

  • Experience of leading and developing a strategic plan to include budgeting responsibilities.
  • Senior level experience of leading multi-channel communications campaigns, locally and nationally and globally.
  • Experience of leading the delivery of integrated, compelling and creative marketing, PR and live experience campaigns.
  • Experience of building strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience of strong cost management and forecasting.

  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team working in a complex and challenging environment and who need to effectively balance short and long-term priorities.
  • Ability to look continuously for opportunities for improvement and to develop strategies for change to influence and shape the future direction of the business
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate confidently and build effective relationships
  • Team player with good relationship building and influencing skills; enjoys working in a collaborative manner in an open, honest, and diverse environment
  • Capable of working across organisational boundaries and with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability and confidence to make sound judgments, drawing on relevant sources of information.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of IT literacy.

  • This role has a salary range of £50,000 to £60,000 pa dependent on experience
