Knowledge Transfer Manager: Digital Economy & Creative Industries

Purpose of the role

To deliver knowledge transfer and other activities aimed at stimulating innovation in specific sectors, technologies, and cross-cutting themes to grow the UK economy.

The role will provide technical capability and market expertise in the field of the Digital Economy & Creative Industries. Meeting KTN KPIs with particular attention to high growth technology and innovation-led business interaction, Innovate UK support and engagement with relevant government departments, research councils and other UK digital sector stakeholders and leadership bodies around the UK.

Role and Responsibilities

  • To lead and be a team member in specific tasks which support innovation and business growth in the Digital Economy, (including, supporting the ongoing delivery of our business membership networks in Immersive Technology: Immerse UK, 5G technologies: UK5G and Online Safety Technologies: The Safety Tech Innovation Network)
  • To develop and maintain knowledge of high growth potential businesses in the UK’s Creative and Digital sectors.
  • To directly engage with businesses providing support through access to funding and making new connections and collaborations
  • To directly engage with business communities through our networks and sector development growth projects
  • To engage businesses with the UK research and innovation assets, including Catapults and Research Centre’s
  • To track progress of businesses to determine outcomes resulting from KTN interventions, seeking case studies and metrics (KPI) capture
  • To maintain a strong relationship with relevant counterparts in Innovate UK, Research Council’s and relevant sector stakeholders
  • To plan and deliver dissemination, scoping and networking meetings, encouraging cross-community involvement where possible
  • To seek opportunities for KTN, with potential for new and additional revenue streams
  • To contribute to KTN wide communications (e.g. yammer, Zoom) and projects, helping colleagues as required
  • To support KPI delivery and provide regular reporting of activity and outcomes both internally at KTN and to our client funding bodies.



  • Relevant industrial experience and/or degree qualified or higher.
  • Demonstrated experience of working in and/or with Digital Economy and/or Digital Creative businesses who are producing products, platforms and solutions as well those who are adopting new technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, with good external profile.
  • Demonstrable experience in a number of business environments that span a range of functions including R&D, innovation and technology led business development and growth and/or working with commercially led creative businesses.

  • Adaptability and openness to work in new emerging business niches and across other relevant business sectors
  • Demonstrated teamwork – able to both lead and be part of effective teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate confidently and build effective relationships

  • High level of IT literacy

  • This role has a salary between £40,000 – £45,000 pa depending on experience.
  • 28 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, pro rata for the year and if part time.
