KTN will work with strategic partners to take collective action to ensure that innovation becomes more diverse and supports the UK being recognised as a leading nation in diversity and inclusion.

Purpose of the role:

KTN is committed to ED&I both through our People Strategy and through the projects and programmes we deliver for and with our clients and partners.

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver the Innovate UK diversity and inclusion agenda across Innovate UK priority programmes and the KTN work programme. The role will facilitate the growth of innovative UK businesses in any sector being run by individuals of any gender and from any background.

The post will be varied, working with individuals and organisations across all sectors to deliver a programme of activity promoting diversity and inclusion. Two current campaigns are Women in Innovation and Young Innovators and will include delivering high-quality support to over 100 individual award winners as well as the 6500+ Women in Innovation and 1800+ Young Innovators communities. New areas are being explored and the role will be expected to support any future diversity and inclusion activities.

Working with colleagues at Innovate UK, you will deliver the programme to ensure effective delivery and our goal to catalyse the development of new technology enabled products, processes and services across a wide range of sectors and industries that will benefit the economy, environment and society. An enthusiasm to learn about diversity and inclusion is needed.

Part of this role is also to raise the profile of diversity and inclusion internally at KTN, supporting colleagues to reach new audiences and ensure that their activities are inclusive.

The role will report into the Head of Investment and Business Growth. Furthermore, the role will work closely with KTN’s Executive on the development and implementation of KTN’s ED&I Strategy.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To work closely with Innovate UK to support the development and delivery of a programme of activities to support the Women in Innovation and Young Innovators campaigns together with any future Innovate UK Diversity and Inclusion programmes.
  • The activities could include events, meetings, training workshops, webinars and communication content.
  • To work with KTN Comms on promoting the benefits of diversity and inclusion within a business context to target audiences including the preparation of material and the use of various media.
  • To work with the KTN CRM system to capture and promote a diverse list of inspirational speakers for events across all KTN sectors and UK regions.
  • Work with KTN teams to ensure diverse audiences are aware of and engaged in the Innovate UK opportunities open to their sectors.
  • Liaise closely with KTN sector teams to ensure a good understanding of diversity and inclusion.
  • Contribute to the writing of articles for newsletters, blogs of interest to our members.
  • Display and maintain a good awareness of diversity and inclusion in a business context to support the overall programme and KTN practice.
  • Undertake necessary administrative duties including the timely completion of accurate reports, meeting minutes and expenses.
  • Work within the KTN structure in a flexible manner, e.g. take part in joint activities with colleagues in other teams.



  • Degree level or demonstrable equivalent experience in a relevant field


  • Demonstrable understanding and application of diversity and inclusion best practice
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering projects, programmes or competitions on time and to budget
  • Demonstrable experience of stakeholder engagement and management


  • ED&I and/or innovation programme experience
  • Business cycle understanding
  • Managing remote delivery of projects, programmes or competitions
  • Use of social media to deliver key messages and information


  • Excellent time management, facilitation and organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate confidently and build effective relationships
  • Team player with excellent relationship building and influencing skills; enjoys working in a collaborative manner in an open, honest, and diverse environment
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively across multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders, explaining complicated matters simply
  • Creative thinking

  • This role has a salary between £32,000 and £42,000 depending on experience
