Gerry O'Hagan

Knowledge Transfer Adviser - Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and London North / Central

I am the Knowledge Transfer Adviser for Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire and London North / Central.

The Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) support businesses to engage with expert academic teams on a project-based collaboration delivering sustainable innovation with positive economic impact and additional societal or environmental benefits. I look after businesses supporting their projects with knowledge bases in many parts of the country, while maintaining relationships with a number of designated universities in relation to their participation in the programme.

For most of my career I held a variety of global business leadership roles including Business Unit Director, Procurement Director and Technical Director with Diageo plc having joined a predecessor company as a graduate trainee. My last role in the organisation was as Operational Excellence Director where I was responsible for a global team helping business units to define their operational strategies and leading the improvement programmes required to achieve their strategic goals. I trained as a coach and mentor on the Diageo in-house programme and subsequently completed an MSc in Coaching & Behaviour Change.

Alongside my career in business I have remained actively involved in the university sector. I am a member of Council at Royal Holloway, University of London and have previously been a Visiting Professor at the University of Strathclyde, a business adviser at Strathclyde Institute, an adviser to the Board of Management of Birmingham Business School and a tutor on the undergraduate Management programme at the University of Glasgow.
