Knowledge Transfer Manager - Industrial Technologies
Mat is lead on Made Smarter Innovation Alley at Digital Manufacturing Week, providing support to companies, universities and other organisations across industrial technologies. He connects them with the people, organisations, expertise and that’ll help fast track their innovative projects, especially across different sectors.
He works with companies of all sizes from start-ups to multinationals, with academia, Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) as well as with local and national government stakeholders. He also runs the Investor Showcase at Made Smarter Innovation Alley and is instrumental in building partnerships and developing collaborations between companies on Innovation Alley.
Mat began his career in defence science with the Defence Research Agency (now QinetiQ), moving from applied research to project management and then business development. He then worked for a time at the Defence Diversification Agency, before moving to a knowledge transfer role at the University of Birmingham. Around 10 years ago, Mat moved to Scotland and the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance, where he was responsible for SUPA’s knowledge exchange in a broad sense including public outreach as well as more traditional commercial activity.
