Net Zero

The UK has declared a “climate emergency” and is committed to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. All sectors can and will play a critical role in helping the UK meet this target by developing and deploying new technologies, processes, and systems level change. KTN is exploiting the power of its networks and expertise to tackle this key challenge and driver of innovation.

The range of activity and opportunities is truly cross-sector and transformational, going way beyond energy generation and storage technologies. Utilising the powerful connections across KTN we are actively connecting organisations to drive net zero innovation across sectors including transport, infrastructure, manufacturing, chemicals, energy and food production. Innovation in energy generation, energy storage, CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage), hydrogen, industrial decarbonisation, alternative fuels and alternative feedstocks will be key to meeting the net zero ambitions.

Working across all these areas and all its teams KTN is driving innovation by making the right connections from its powerful and diverse network – between and across industry, with innovators, diverse enabling expertise, facilities, and stakeholders – to further develop and deploy technologies, develop future supply chains and create the industrial systems and products of the future.

KTN is committed both to helping businesses find the right funding, and identifying and addressing funding gaps in areas requiring intervention.

Accelerating to Net Zero with Hydrogen Blending Standards Development in the UK, Canada and the US

Hydrogen is expected to play a critical role in the move to a net-zero economy. However, large-scale deployment is still in its infancy and there is still much to be done before we can blend hydrogen in large volumes into gas networks and ramp up the production that is required to meet demands of the energy, transport and industry sectors. KTN Global Alliance will host two webinars to explore these challenges and opportunities in hydrogen blending on the 2nd and 3rd March 2021.
